AUSTNET have developed a system to manage Software and warranty licences including software and hardware maintenance and licence agreements. It tracks: Microsoft, Citrix, Novell, CA , Veritas , Cisco, Lotus , Checkpoint, Watchguard, TrendMicro, Symantec, IBM, HP, and many others. It tracks total licence numbers by contract number, purchase date and their site/ branch location, also the expiry / renewal dates, and licence program. Reports can be produced, advising clients of their software licence assets, licence expiry dates and maintenance or warranty agreements. These reports can be used to identify and track renewals, or reassignments to different offices. Similarly they can be used authorative documents reporting to management, auditors or vendors. For many IT managers, and corporate management teams keeping a track of ALL the software they own, when the upgrade protection expires, what hardware is under warranty and when those warranties expire, is a chaotic. There is no central co-ordination, no centralized database, purchase orders and invoices are misplaced and not appropriately organized, Software packages are misplaced, and now with most licences being electronic these disappear into an email black hole.
